Martin Harvey worked as a field ranger for the National Parks in Zimbabwe and Natal Parks Board in South Africa for 12 years before eventually becoming a professional travel and wildlife photographer in 1993.
He has done wildlife photography in over 38 countries around the world, from the Arctic regions of North America to the deserts of Australia. However the last few years have been largely confined to working on endangered species, indigenous people and travel photography scenes throughout Africa for several upcoming books.
His travel and wildlife photography have been published in wildlife magazines, travel magazines and books throughout the word and include publications such as National Geographic Traveller, National Geographic World, Travel Africa Magazine, BBC Wildlife, Geo, Natural History, International Wildlife and many others. The World Wide Fund for Nature frequently commissions Martin to cover conservation projects. Assigments for WWF International include tigers and Indian wildlife, mountain gorillas, bushmeat in Central Africa, African forest elephant, Ethiopian wolf, endangered Austaralian wildlife, endangered species worldwide and various conservation issues.
He also donates large numbers of pictures to conservation organizations such as WWF, IUCN, Frankfort Zoological Society and the Endangered Wildlife Trust.
Martin is an award winning photographer and has received numerous photographic prizes and commendations in both the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Agfa Wildlife Awards and Fuji Photography Awards.
He has two books published - 'African Predators' released in 2002 and 'Africa - Continent of Contrasts' released in 2005. A further book on African wildlife is due to be published in 2006.
