Africa wildlife photography is the art of taking photos of lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, impala, giraffes and more. More experienced photographers may be able to get rare shots of endangered species such as wild dogs and gorillas and may even get shots of herds migrating, a kill by a lioness or an elephant giving birth. These photos are used in wildlife articles in magazines and the footage may be used in wildlife documentaries and programs such as on the National Geographic channel.

An important method of documenting the number of animals, their habits and migration patterns in particular areas is through photography.
